Finding a Room in Burbank

• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide for Burbank, CA, California.
Nestled deep within the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, California is a small but well-known city located 12 mi (19 km) from downtown Los Angeles. Although tourism isn't the city's biggest draw, Burbank is a recognizable name across the globe because of it's reputation as the "Media Capital of the World." Situated just a few miles northeast of Hollywood, Burbank is the location that many top movie and television players in the United States choose to anchor their headquarters, including Warner Bros., NBC Universal, Walt Disney Company and ABC.

Visitors can access Burbank via the Bob Hope Airport or one of the many freeways connecting the city to Greater Los Angeles. Burbank is also known for its close proximity to attractions like the Los Angeles Zoo and Universal Studios.

DOWNTOWN BURBANK

The downtown core is situated just off the Golden State Freeway at the base of the Verdugo Mountains. This area offers a wide range of hotel options, with brand-name options like the Residence Inn Burbank Downtown being a popular choice. Budget-conscience travelers also have a range of motel options to choose from, including the Providencia Motel on East Providencia Avenue.

BURBANK AIRPORT

Although Bob Hope Airport in Burbank isn't nearly as busy as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), it’s still an important transportation hub in Southern California. Travelers to and from the airport have plenty of options when deciding where to stay, such as the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank—which is the closest hotel to the airport—and the Courtyard, located a few blocks east.

MEDIA CENTER

South of the airport and west of downtown is the area of the city that Burbank is known for: the Media Center, where major film and television companies have set up studios that attract many of the fame and fortune seekers that Los Angeles is known for. Most Media Center hotels are located along West Olive Road, a main drag that will eventually lead people to both Warner Brothers Studio and Universal Studios Hollywood. One such hotel is the Safari Inn, a hip 60s-style, 55-room hotel complete with palm trees and a kitschy neon sign. If it’s movies guests are interested in, they can look no further: the Safari Inn is rich in film history and was even featured in the movie True Romance.

For visitors wanting to get a little closer to the action, the Hotel Amarano is a luxurious boutique hotel that is located just around the corner from the Warner Brothers Studio and NBC Television City. The hotel offers 100 unique rooms, plus plenty of amenities for the business traveler like WiFi and a business center. The nearby Tangerine Hotel is a modern and colorful accommodation choice that offers contemporary rooms at reasonable rates. For those not looking for anything fancy, the Best Western Plus Media Center Inn is situated just across the street and offers all the amenities expected from a chain hotel. Further east on Victory Boulevard, independent motels provide accommodation choices for the budget-conscious traveler.
